Web design studio in Iceland

Websites built around your business

We design and build bespoke websites and online stores that connect to the systems you already use. Speed, accessibility and SEO are built in from day one.

Work: Gagnaver, Gagnaver: web hosting anyone can understand.
The new Gagnaver home page: the headline “Vefurinn þinn í loftið, án tæknivesens” (your website online, without the tech hassle) and a card asking what you are building.

Your store and your books, in sync

When an order comes in, the invoice should appear in your accounting system and stock levels should update, without anyone copying numbers by hand. We connect WooCommerce and custom-built sites to DK, Regla, Payday and Icelandic payment gateways.

  • Stock and prices kept up to date on the site automatically

Process

We never start with design

We start with goals. Then we design, build and measure. You always know where the project stands and what happens next.

How we work
  1. Discovery and goals

What should the site achieve, for whom, and how will we measure it?

  2. Design

Structure, content and look that you can see and test before we build.

  3. Build

Fast, accessible code, connected to your systems and properly tested.

  4. Launch

The site goes live, with redirects from old addresses and working analytics.

  5. Care and improvement

We keep watching, measure progress against the goals and improve.

Point of view

Three opinions that shape every project

  1. Goals first, looks second.

A beautiful site nobody finds or uses is an expensive poster. We define what the site has to do before we draw a single line.

  2. Speed and accessibility aren't extras.

A slow site, or one that shuts people out, loses business. That's why performance, accessibility and SEO are part of every build.

  3. Less is usually more.

Fewer pages, clearer messages and less code. Everything on the site has to earn its place.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a new website cost?

Mostly it comes down to scope: the number of distinct page types and pages, whether it's a store, which systems need connecting and how much content has to be written. After a first conversation you get a written proposal that spells out what's included, so you can compare it fairly with other options.

How long does a website take?

It depends on scope, integrations and how quickly content and decisions are ready. The proposal includes a phased timeline, so you know when you'll see the design, when the build is done and when the site goes live. As a guide, a subscription website usually goes live in 2–4 weeks, a bespoke website often takes 6–12 weeks, and an online store with an accounting integration often 8–16 weeks.

Can you connect the site to DK, Regla or Payday?

Yes, it's one of our specialities. We connect WooCommerce and custom sites to Icelandic accounting systems so orders, invoices and stock levels move between them without manual work. We start by mapping which data goes where and what should happen when something fails.

Do you use WordPress or build everything from scratch?

Both. WordPress and WooCommerce work well when a lot of content is updated in-house or when you run a store. For fast marketing sites and specialised solutions we often build from scratch, for example with Astro, a modern framework for fast sites. We recommend whatever suits the project and explain why.

Who handles hosting and maintenance after launch?

Hosting can be with Gagnaver, which is run by the same company as Íslandsvefir, or anywhere you prefer. We offer maintenance and ongoing improvements, but a maintenance contract is never a condition of handover. We recommend that the domain is registered to you and that you own your content. Rights to the design and code are set out in the contract.

How does a project get started?

With a short conversation about what you want to achieve. We then go through goals, audience and systems, and send you a written proposal with the approach, timeline and price. If it fits, discovery begins and you get one point of contact who stays with the project to the end.
